A person cannot rise above how he sees himself.
This is the crux of this classic first published back in 1960.
All of my actions, feelings and behaviours – even my abilities – are always consistent with my Self Image.
I cannot act otherwise.
Therefore I need to expand my self-image to grow – not changed by study and intellect, but by experiencing – as a child is not taught love, but must experience it.
Failure comes from reliving my disappointments, losses, setbacks, and my failures. No longer can I derive sickly comfort from blaming the present on the past, replaying a ‘broken record’.
So play a new record!
Create, develop, and nurture a Self Image of how I see myself today into the person I desire to be.
