Do you have a strategy this year?
The start of the year is a great time to make a declaration for what’s most important. Not winging it again, but being clear on what a good balance looks like for you…
- a good balance in and out of work
- a balance in the type of work you’re saying yes and no to.
- the balance between looking up at the horizon, and getting stuck into the weeds today.
- and a healthy balance between performance and recovery time.
This is what Lebrasse Architect and Planning Partnership have focused on.
The horizon, or telescopic view, for Simon and Nicholas Lebrasse is for Torquay to be the Monaco of the UK. (Why not?)
And the microscopic view starts here, with the ‘priceless discipline’, a 30 minute planning meeting at the beginning of every week for what to focus on.
By the end of 2025 this discipline resulted in a balance between following through on their work for existing clients and winning new work for this year.
A balance between the work they took on for homeowners and developers.
There was a good balance between their responsibilities in the business.
And a great balance between time in the business, and holidays.
Discipline to stick with a strategy
Sticking with a strategy is the same whether riding the ups and downs of the stock market or your business.
Success isn’t instant, it’s sequential. Having the discipline to keep doing something that’s progressing toward a vision.
Use the carpenter analogy; measure twice, cut once. Spend a little time at the start of the year to be clear on what’s most important to you. Make a declaration. And follow it through with discipline.
Don’t try and do this on your own. Sit down with me in the crucial first two/three weeks in January and we’ll create your strategy together.
January is a powerful time to make a declaration, and follow up with the discipline to stick to your strategy.
